Social bookmarking is a method for Web users to prepare, store, manage and seek for bookmarks of sources online. Unlike file sharing, the resources themselves aren't shared, merely bookmarks that reference them.
Descriptions may be added to those bookmarks within the type of metadata, so customers may understand the content of the useful resource without first needing to obtain it for themselves. Such descriptions could also be free text feedback, votes in favour of or against its quality, or tags that collectively or collaboratively turn into a folksonomy. Folksonomy is also called social tagging, the process by which many users add metadata in the form of keywords to shared content
